The Linkerbot Linker Hand O7 is a palm-scale dexterous hand engineered to deliver human-level manipulation capability in a compact, integration-ready package. Combining 7 active and 10 passive degrees of freedom, the O7 uses a hybrid actuation architecture in which actively driven joints provide primary control authority while passive joints improve contact adaptability during grasping—reducing sensitivity to object pose uncertainty and friction variation. At approximately 700 g with an aluminum-alloy frame, it supports a payload of up to 5 kg and a repeat positioning accuracy of ±0.20 mm. An integrated 6×12 resistive tactile array with 72 sensing cells provides real-time force mapping for detecting contact location, pressure distribution, and slip onset.

Control is delivered over CAN or RS-485 interfaces with plug-and-play ROS 2 driver support, making the O7 straightforward to integrate into ROS-based manipulation stacks on humanoids, cobots, and mobile manipulators. Overload and thermal protection safeguards prevent damage during unexpected impacts, jams, or sustained high-load grasps. The combination of high DoF, integrated tactile sensing, and industrial communications makes the O7 well suited to contact-rich manipulation research, imitation learning dataset collection, and flexible automation on production lines where object geometry varies across tasks.
