The AgileX RANGER is a heavy-payload unmanned ground vehicle built around a four-wheel, four-steering drivetrain with independent suspension on each corner. This omnidirectional steering architecture enables in-situ rotation and lateral movement, giving the RANGER significantly greater terrain flexibility than conventional differential or Ackermann chassis. Four 600 W brushless geared drive motors deliver 22 N·m of torque per wheel alongside 35 N·m steering actuators, supporting a 150 kg payload class across gradients of up to 10° and vertical obstacles to 100 mm. Ingress protection is rated IP55, and the operating temperature range spans -10°C to 40°C.

Power comes from a modular hot-swap lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) battery system rated at 48V / 24Ah per unit, with support for up to four batteries in parallel for extended runtime. AgileX quotes a runtime range of 2–8 hours depending on payload and terrain. CAN bus is the primary interface for control and telemetry, and AgileX supplies open-source SDK and software resources for ROS-based integration. Aluminum T-slot rails on the top deck provide standardised mounting points for LiDAR, cameras, IMUs, manipulators, and custom sensor stacks, making RANGER a development platform for inspection, logistics, and field robotics research.
